ATTRIBUTES

Caron is passionate about using sport to make a difference to people’s lives. She is committed to working with communities to ensure that the right strategies, policies, projects and programmes are put in place to meet their needs. 

Caron’s skills include community consultation using participatory appraisal skills, project development and evaluation, facilitation of meetings, partnership working and advocacy, advice and guidance on the design and development of community facilities and external funding for projects.

ACHIEVEMENTS

  • Production of a physical activity action plan for adults living in Peckham, London using participatory appraisal techniques. Also included training for Southwark PCT public health staff and members of the community on participatory appraisal techniques.
  • Evaluation of the national Co-operative StreetGames Young Volunteers programme for StreetGames for 2009/10
  • Community-led Sport Action Zone programme based on consultation with over 1200 residents on a face to face basis, production of a needs assessment plan and the development and management of revenue and capital projects resulting from this plan.
  • Leading the development of a £1.2m community-led capital programme for Braunstone Park, Leicester including a floodlit MUGA, sports changing rooms, climbing wall and improvements to football pitches 
  • Development of resources for ‘StreetGames’ to support community cohesion through sport.
  • Project management of Active Together, a countywide £750k programme in Leicestershire to increase adult participation in physical activity and sport
  • Supporting nine Community Sports Networks in Leicestershire to become ‘Embedded and Effective’
  • Management of joint-use community sports facilities increasing both usage and income
  • Production of Sports Strategy for Rutland District Council. 

AMBITIONS

  • To see the 100m finals at the 2012 Olympic Games
  • To develop a community sport toolkit for community consultation
