Linda Freeman has extensive knowledge and experience of sports development, and is passionate about bringing out the best in people through facilitation, business coaching and delivering challenging and supportive based learning opportunities.


  • Extensive knowledge and experience of sports development: empathy and  experience working with voluntary networks, National Governing Bodies, County Sports Partnerships, Community Sports Networks, National Sporting Agencies and Sport England. Understanding the motivations, the necessary environments and resources required for athletes, staff, volunteers and organisations to achieve their potential.
  • Passion and expertise in working with and through others to make a difference: creating environments for people to succeed through leading, enabling and motivating individuals and teams of staff/ volunteers through coaching, managing, leading action learning sets and other training and development opportunities.
  • Observing, assessing and developing strategic planning, leadership and performance of organisations: challenging key stake holders in taking responsibility and accountability for planning and performance. Being flexible in approach and style in order to work effectively with staff and volunteers at a variety of levels.
  • Driving and facilitating the successful implementation of development programmes and training resources for: National Governing Bodies, Sport Unlimited, Community Sport and Physical Activity Networks, Club Development, Long Term Athlete Development, Volunteer Development and County sports partnership networks.
  • Performance Sport:  a member of Team England staff for the Commonwealth Games (Manchester 2002, Melbourne 2006 and Delhi 2010), the Commonwealth Youth Games (Melbourne 2004) UK School Games Athletes’ Village Manager (2006 to present) and a British Olympic Foundation guardian / mentor to four athletes at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.
  • Experience in Sports Coaching: experience as a full time professional swimming coach.  managing age group swimming and establishing school/club links.
