ATTRIBUTES

Fred has extensive management experience in both the public and voluntary sectors across the East Midlands Region, with a strong focus on sport and recreation, as evidenced by his 15 year career with Sport England in the Region.

Fred has particular empathy with smaller community sports clubs and organisations, having successfully advised many in context of sourcing Lottery and other funding.  Fred is motivated by applying his knowledge and skills to enable sports clubs and community organisations develop themselves, and source funding to achieve their aspirations.

ACHIEVEMENTS

  • Part of the national team that established the Sport England Lottery Fund in 1995
  • Assessed Pre-Games Training Camp venue applications for the 2012 London Olympics and Paralympics for LOCOG
  • Produced the Nottinghamshire County Cricket Facility Strategy 2009 – 2013
  • Mapped major sporting venues in the East Midlands for their capability to attract and stage major International sporting events
  • Delivered training in Sport England’s Active Places Power strategic planning tool to local authorities across the East Midlands
  • Produced comprehensive East Midlands sporting events Calendars for the East Midlands Development Agency and Sport England from 2004 to 2007
  • Professional Advisor to the Nottingham City Council Advice & Scrutiny Review Committee, relating to their review of Leisure Centre provision in the city
  • Research to support Community Investment Fund bids in Bassetlaw
  • Business planning and funding bid preparation for the Bulwell Community Gym project in a deprived area of in Nottingham
  • Successful capital funding bids for an inner-city College in Nottingham to regenerate sports facilities
  • Feasibility study and business planning for Community Gym project in Lenton, Nottingham
  • Member of the ‘Awards for All’ Committee for the East Midlands from 2001 to 2003
  • Produced Community Focus documents for proposed Football Centres developments in Nottingham and Liverpool
  • Feasibility study; business planning, and funding bids for a social enterprise project in Corby
  • Delivery of a training workshops on Effective Fundraising to Community Groups for Regeneration East Midlands and cricket clubs for the Nottinghamshire Cricket Board
  • Delivery of training sessions for Black & Ethnic Community workers in sourcing funding for VOICE East Midlands.

To help more grass roots sporting organisations obtain funding to achieve their dreams
To continue playing cricket for as long as I am able
To live long enough to see one, or all, of my 3 Grandsons play cricket for England!
