ATTRIBUTES

Annie attracts interest and commitment through her enthusiasm, energy and passion for using physical activity as a tool to improve health and well being.  She was a major player within the EUROACTION preventive cardiology programme that was piloted across Europe.  With the impressive results from the pilot Annie was instrumental in establishing MyAction, which uses an innovative approach for supporting people with high cardiovascular risks.  Annie is gaining an international reputation for her work.  She is exceptionally skilled at translating her expertise into practice on the ground.      

ACHIEVEMENTS

  • Directed a new innovative company – MyAction – a partnership between Imperial College London (an exemplary academic institution) and Mytime (a charitable Leisure Trust)
  • Responsible for the strategic development of an innovative vascular prevention programme in line with Lord Darzi’s NHS Review (2008)
  • Tutor for EUROACTION preventive cardiology course: ‘How to Set Up and Run an Evidence Based Preventive Cardiology Programme’ endorsed by the Council on Cardiovascular Nursing and Allied Professions (CCNAP)
  • Lecturer, verifier and assessor with the British Association of Cardiac Rehabilitation (BACR) Phase IV lecturing team 
  • Conference organising committee for the British Association for Cardiac Rehabilitation Exercise Professionals Group (BACR-EPG) for events involving 300-400 people
  • Steering group committee member of the British Association for Cardiac Rehabilitation Exercise Professionals Group (BACR-EPG)
  • Developed a national protocol for primary care secondary prevention of CHD to enable safe referral of people with CHD to access exercise referral schemes 
  • Established the BACR-EPG in 2003, in partnership with Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Cardiac Rehabilitation (ACPICR) and British Association of Exercise Science (BASES) 
  • Published over 30 articles and abstracts in national and international health and research journals
  • Regular presenter at national and international conferences.
